eliminating straight ticket voting.

  • Status: Died on the table
  • Term: 2007-2008
  • House committee: Election Law
  • Subject: Elections

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2007 and referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 12, 2007. The committee met in executive session on March 14, 2007 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 13–2 to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On March 27, 2007 the House voted to lay it on the table on a division vote 207–107. On March 27, 2007 the House failed “Remove from Table (Rep Vaillancourt)” on a division vote 104–240. The bill died on the table when the session ended on September 5, 2007, having been set aside and never taken back up.
