The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2006 and referred to the Senate Environment and Wildlife committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 10, 2006. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0974). The committee's amendment (0974) was adopted on a voice vote on February 23, 2006, changing the text of the bill. On February 23, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 22, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On March 22, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House on March 28, 2006 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 4, 2006. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1627h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (1627h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 12, 2006, changing the text of the bill. On April 12, 2006 the House adopted “Pass with AM” on a voice vote. The House referred the bill to the Finance committee. The committee held a work session on April 18, 2006. The committee voted 13–2 to recommend that the House kill it. On May 4, 2006 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
