The Story

The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0459). The committee's amendment (0459) was adopted on a voice vote on February 2, 2006, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (0703), offered by Sen. Flanders, was adopted on a voice vote on February 2, 2006, changing the text of the bill. On February 2, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 16, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On February 16, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House on February 22, 2006 and was referred to the House Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 15, 2006. The committee held a work session on March 29, 2006. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1553h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 12, 2006 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 11, 2006 the Senate adopted “Sen. Morse Concur with House Amendment” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 24, 2006 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 1, 2006, making it Chapter 217 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 2007.
