A floor amendment (1483), offered by Sen. Clegg, was adopted on a voice vote on March 22, 2006, changing the text of the bill. On March 22, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On March 22, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House on March 28, 2006 and was referred to the House Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 2006. The committee held a work session on April 18, 2006. The majority recommended that the House kill it, and the minority recommended that the House pass it, by a vote of 11–6. On April 26, 2006 the House voted to kill it on a division vote 224–86.
