The Story
It was introduced on January 27, 2005 and referred to the Senate Banks and Insurance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 1, 2005. On March 10, 2005 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On March 10, 2005 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2005. The committee voted 8–7 to recommend that the House pass it. On May 11, 2005 the House adopted “Recommitted to Labor” on a voice vote. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a work session on October 4, 2005. The committee voted unanimously, 10–0, to recommend that the House study it after the session ends, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 4, 2006 the House voted to study it after the session ends. The committee held work sessions on September 5, 2006 and September 19, 2006. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “NOT REC FOR LEGIS”, by a vote of 10 to 1.
