HR 16 (2006)
requesting that the New Hampshire congressional delegation support optional Social Security personal retirement accounts.
- Status: Referred for interim study
- Term: 2005-2006
- House committee: State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs
- Subject: Military & Veterans' Affairs
The Story
The committee held a public hearing on May 24, 2005. The committee voted 7–4 to recommend that the House kill it. On June 8, 2005 the House adopted “Recommitted to St-Fed Rel & Vets Affs” on a voice vote. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a work session on September 22, 2005. The committee voted unanimously, 11–0, to recommend that the House study it after the session ends, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 4, 2006 the House voted to study it after the session ends. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “NOT REC FOR LEGIS”, by a vote of 10 to 0.
