HB 695-FN (2006)

requiring the university system of New Hampshire to make payments in lieu of taxes for purchased property.

  • Status: Killed
  • Term: 2005-2006
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Subject: Taxes - State

The Story

It was introduced on January 26, 2005 and referred to the House Education committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Municipal and County Government committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on February 22, 2005. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 31, 2005, June 21, 2005 and September 14, 2005. The majority recommended that the House kill it, and the minority recommended that the House pass it with changes, by a vote of 10–5. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 4, 2006 the House adopted “Special Order to beginning of Reg Cal for Jan 18 Without Objection”. On January 18, 2006 the House voted to kill it on a division vote 244–88.
