The Story
It was introduced on January 26, 2005 and referred to the House Education committee. On February 15, 2005 the House adopted “Susp Rules for Report Deadlines” on a voice vote. The committee held a public hearing on February 17, 2005. The committee held work sessions on March 15, 2005, March 16, 2005, March 17, 2005 and March 18, 2005. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a public hearing on November 10, 2005. The majority recommended that the House pass it with changes, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 14–3. The report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (0190) was adopted on a voice vote on January 4, 2006, changing the text of the bill. On June 28, 2006 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
