The committee held public hearings on March 29, 2006 and April 5, 2006. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 13, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 13, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on April 27, 2006 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 2, 2006, making it Chapter 76 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 2006.
