The Story
It was introduced on January 26, 2005 and referred to the House Children and Family Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 15, 2005. The committee voted 11–3 to recommend that the House pass it. On March 30, 2005 the House adopted “Recommitted to Child & Fam Law” on a voice vote. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a work session on September 27, 2005. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on January 4, 2006. On January 4, 2006 the House adopted “Special Order to regular place on Reg Cal for Jan 18 Without Objection”. On January 18, 2006 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on January 18, 2006 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 18, 2006. The committee recommended that the Senate kill it. On May 4, 2006 the Senate voted to kill it on a voice vote.
