  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2005-2006
  • House committee: Legislative Administration
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 252

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2006 and referred to the House Legislative Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 26, 2006. The committee voted unanimously, 11–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 1007h), and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On March 9, 2006 the House adopted “Special Ordered, March 21, Without Objection”. The committee's amendment (1007h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 21, 2006, changing the text of the bill. On March 21, 2006 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 22, 2006 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 18, 2006. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 4, 2006 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On May 4, 2006 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote. On May 4, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 4, 2006 the Senate voted to pass it. An enrolled bill amendment (2223) was adopted on May 11, 2006. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 24, 2006 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2223) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 5, 2006, making it Chapter 252 of the session laws. It took effect on June 5, 2006.
