SB 30 (2005)

establishing the Collaborative Practice for Emergency Contraception Act.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2005-2006
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Occupational Regulation
  • Chapter law: 131

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2005 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 18, 2005. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. A floor amendment (0979), offered by Sen. Kenney, was rejected on a roll call 8–16 on March 31, 2005. On March 31, 2005 the Senate voted to pass it on a roll call 14–10 and ordered it to a third reading. On March 31, 2005 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House on April 6, 2005 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Executive Departments and Administration committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on April 27, 2005. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 14–5. On May 25, 2005 the House rejected a motion to lay it on the table on a roll call 142–222. On May 25, 2005 the House voted to pass it on a roll call 195–169. The bill was enrolled on June 2, 2005 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 16, 2005, making it Chapter 131 of the session laws. It took effect on August 15, 2005.
