The Story

It was introduced on February 3, 2005 and referred to the Senate Energy and Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 22, 2005. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0647). The committee's amendment (0647) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2005, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2005 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On March 24, 2005 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Science, Technology and Energy committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 19, 2005. The committee held work sessions on April 26, 2005 and May 11, 2005. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 25, 2005 the House voted to pass it with changes. On June 2, 2005 the Senate adopted “Sen. Odell Concur with House Amendment” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 9, 2005 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 21, 2005, making it Chapter 169 of the session laws. It took effect on June 21, 2005.
