The Story

It was introduced on January 27, 2005 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 15, 2005. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0889). On March 31, 2005 the Senate voted to lay it on the table. On April 7, 2005 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote. The committee's amendment (0889) was rejected on a voice vote on April 7, 2005. A floor amendment (1017), offered by Sen. On April 7, 2005 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 21, 2005. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 4, 2005 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on May 5, 2005 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor.
