The Story

A floor amendment (0695), offered by Sen. Odell, was adopted on a voice vote on March 17, 2005, changing the text of the bill. On March 17, 2005 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On March 17, 2005 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House on March 23, 2005 and was referred to the House Public Works and Highways committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2005. The committee held a work session on May 17, 2005. The committee met in executive session on May 25, 2005 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On June 1, 2005 the House voted to pass it with changes. On June 9, 2005 the Senate adopted “Senator Clegg Non Concur with House Am{1570}(New Title) Requests C of C” on a voice vote. On June 15, 2005 the House adopted “House Acceded to req for Conf Comm” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 22, 2005 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill.
