On June 2, 2005 the Senate adopted “Sen.Letourneau Accede to House Request For Committee of Conference” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 15, 2005 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On June 29, 2005 the Senate voted to pass it. On June 29, 2005 the House adopted “Conf Comm Report” on a roll call 273–35. The bill was enrolled on June 29, 2005 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2135) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. It became law without the governor's signature on August 11, 2005, as Chapter 296.
