The Story

On March 4, 2004 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On March 11, 2004 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote. A floor amendment (0818), offered by Sen. Gatsas, was adopted on a voice vote on March 11, 2004, changing the text of the bill. On March 11, 2004 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On March 11, 2004 the Senate adopted “Reconsideration” on a voice vote. A floor amendment (0821), offered by Sen. Gatsas, was adopted on a roll call 24–0 on March 11, 2004, changing the text of the bill. On March 11, 2004 the Senate again voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On March 11, 2004 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House on March 11, 2004 and was referred to the House Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 1, 2004. The committee held a work session on April 21, 2004. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it by a vote of 18–1. On May 5, 2004 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
