The Story

It was introduced on January 7, 2004 and referred to the Senate Wildlife and Recreation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 13, 2004. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0095). On January 22, 2004 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On March 4, 2004 the Senate adopted “Remove from Table” on a voice vote. The committee's amendment (0095) was adopted on a voice vote on March 4, 2004, changing the text of the bill. A floor amendment (0678), offered by Sen. Gatsas, was adopted on a voice vote on March 4, 2004, changing the text of the bill. On March 4, 2004 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On March 4, 2004 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Fish and Game committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 2004. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 11–3, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 15, 2004 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on April 15, 2004 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 23, 2004, making it Chapter 37 of the session laws. It took effect on April 23, 2004.
