SB 215-FN (2004)

relative to the use of prerecorded telephone messages for political advocacy.

  • Status: Killed
  • Term: 2003-2004
  • House committee: Election Law
  • Senate committee: Interstate Cooperation
  • Subject: Elections

The Story

It was introduced on January 30, 2003 and referred to the Senate Interstate Cooperation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 5, 2003. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0699). The committee's amendment (0699) was adopted on a voice vote on March 20, 2003, changing the text of the bill. On March 20, 2003 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On March 20, 2003 the Senate voted to pass it. It crossed to the House on March 25, 2003 and was referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 8, 2003. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it unanimously, 13–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 7, 2004 the House voted to kill it.
