The Story
It was introduced on January 9, 2003 and referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 11, 2003. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The majority of the committee recommended that the House study it after the session ends by a vote of 12–5. On January 15, 2004 the House voted to study it after the session ends on a voice vote. The committee held work sessions on August 17, 2004, October 5, 2004 and October 14, 2004. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “REC FOR LEGIS IN 2005”, by a vote of 13 to 0.
