HB 138-FN (2004)
relative to interpreters for the deaf in certain governmental or public proceedings.
- Status: Referred for interim study
- Term: 2003-2004
- House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs
- Subject: Miscellaneous
The Story
It was introduced on January 9, 2003 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 21, 2003. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 12–3. On January 30, 2003 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on April 22, 2003, June 3, 2003, September 9, 2003 and November 13, 2003. On January 7, 2004 the House voted to study it after the session ends. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “NOT REC FOR LEGIS IN 2005”, by a vote of 18 to 0.
