relative to state-owned trails and parking lots in the town of Windham.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2003-2004
  • House committee: Resources, Recreation and Development
  • Senate committee: Wildlife and Recreation
  • Subject: Fish & Game
  • Chapter law: 260

The Story

It was introduced on January 9, 2003 and referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 12, 2003. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 17–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 25, 2003 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on April 3, 2003 and was referred to the Senate Wildlife and Recreation committee. The committee held public hearings on April 22, 2003 and April 29, 2003. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 1718). The committee's amendment (1718) was adopted on a voice vote on May 29, 2003, changing the text of the bill. On May 29, 2003 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 29, 2003 the Senate voted to pass it. On June 5, 2003 the House voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. On June 5, 2003 the Senate adopted “Sen. Gallus Accede to House Request For Committee of Conference” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 12, 2003 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On June 24, 2003 the Senate voted to pass it. On June 24, 2003 the House adopted “Conf Comm Report” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 30, 2003 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 14, 2003, making it Chapter 260 of the session laws. It took effect on September 12, 2003.
