HB 242 (2003)

relative to the number of members on, and quorum necessary for, the assessing standards board.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2003-2004
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Internal Affairs
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 274

The Story

It was introduced on January 9, 2003 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 22, 2003. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 20–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 6, 2003 the House voted to pass it. It crossed to the Senate on April 24, 2003 and was referred to the Senate Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 21, 2003. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 1854). The committee's amendment (1854) was adopted on a voice vote on June 5, 2003, changing the text of the bill. On June 5, 2003 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 5, 2003 the Senate voted to pass it. On June 5, 2003 the House voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. On June 5, 2003 the Senate adopted “Senator Boyce Accede to House Request For Committee of Conference” on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 11, 2003 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On June 24, 2003 the Senate adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote. On June 24, 2003 the House adopted “Conf Comm Report” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 30, 2003 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2302) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 18, 2003, making it Chapter 274 of the session laws. It took effect on July 18, 2003.
