SB 56 (2002)

relative to health care providers discontinuing service in New Hampshire.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2001-2002
  • House committee: Commerce
  • Senate committee: Insurance
  • Subject: Insurance
  • Chapter law: 1

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2001 and referred to the Senate Insurance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 2001. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0561). On March 29, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 29, 2001 and was referred to the House Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 2, 2001. The committee held a work session on May 9, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it unanimously, 13–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on May 17, 2001. On May 17, 2001 the House adopted “Recommitted to Commerce” on a voice vote. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a work session on November 28, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 17–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 2, 2002 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on January 17, 2002 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on January 30, 2002, making it Chapter 1 of the session laws. It took effect on March 31, 2002.
