  • Chapter law: 166

The Story

It was introduced on February 14, 2002 and referred to the Senate Energy and Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 6, 2002. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2901). On March 14, 2002 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On March 14, 2002 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote. On March 14, 2002 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. A floor amendment (2961), offered by Sen. Eaton, was adopted on a voice vote on March 14, 2002, changing the text of the bill. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 26, 2002. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 17, 2002 the House voted to pass it with changes. On April 25, 2002 the Senate adopted “Sen. Below Concur with House Amendment” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 2, 2002 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 15, 2002, making it Chapter 166 of the session laws. It took effect on July 14, 2002.
