The Story

It was introduced on January 2, 2002 and referred to the Senate Wildlife and Recreation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 29, 2002. A floor amendment (2810), offered by Sen. Roberge Foor, was adopted on a voice vote on February 20, 2002, changing the text of the bill. It crossed to the House on February 21, 2002 and was referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 20, 2002. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 12–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 4, 2002 the House voted to pass it with changes. On April 25, 2002 the Senate adopted “Sen. Disnard Concur with House Amendment” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 2, 2002 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 15, 2002, making it Chapter 161 of the session laws.
