  • Status: Referred for interim study
  • Term: 2001-2002
  • House committee: Judiciary
  • Senate committee: Judiciary
  • Subject: Miscellaneous

The Story

It was introduced on January 2, 2002 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 16, 2002. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2522). On February 14, 2002 the Senate rejected a motion to pass it with changes on a voice vote. A floor amendment (2661), offered by Sen. Gordon, was adopted on a voice vote on February 14, 2002, changing the text of the bill. It crossed to the House on February 14, 2002 and was referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 13, 2002. The majority of the committee recommended that the House study it after the session ends unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 21, 2002 the House voted to study it after the session ends. The committee held a work session on September 18, 2002. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “NOT REC FOR LEGIS IN 2003”, by a vote of 15 to 0.
