The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2001 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 2001. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0983). On May 1, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 8, 2001. The committee held work sessions on May 16, 2001 and May 29, 2001. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a work session on October 24, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it unanimously, 13–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 2, 2002 the House voted to kill it.
