SB 199 (2002)

relative to the voting procedures for authorizing certain capital projects in interstate school districts.

  • Status: Killed
  • Term: 2001-2002
  • House committee: Education
  • Senate committee: Education
  • Subject: Education - General

The Story

It was introduced on May 9, 2001 and referred to the Senate Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 23, 2001. On May 24, 2001 the Senate adopted “Suspend the Rules for Report not in Calandar” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. O'Hearn. On May 24, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on June 26, 2001 and was referred to the House Education committee. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a public hearing on December 11, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it unanimously, 16–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 6, 2002 the House voted to kill it.
