It crossed to the House on May 17, 2001 and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 29, 2001. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on September 25, 2001 and November 27, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House study it after the session ends. On January 10, 2002 the House voted to study it after the session ends on a voice vote. The committee held work sessions on May 21, 2002 and June 4, 2002. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “NOT REC FOR LEGIS IN 2003”, by a vote of 13 to 0.
