SB 182-FN-A (2002)
establishing a brain injury program and making an appropriation therefor.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2001-2002
- House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs
- Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
- Subject: Miscellaneous
- Chapter law: 245
The Story
It was introduced on March 15, 2001 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 11, 2001. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 1102). On May 9, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 15, 2001. The committee held a work session on May 16, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 16–0. On May 31, 2001 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote, then referred it on to the House Finance committee. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a work session on November 28, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes. On January 10, 2002 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On March 21, 2002 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Prescott. The bill was enrolled on May 2, 2002 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (3132) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on May 17, 2002, making it Chapter 245 of the session laws. It took effect on May 17, 2002.
