SB 120 (2002)

relative to tip pooling for certain hourly employees.

  • Status: Killed
  • Term: 2001-2002
  • House committee: Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Employment

The Story

It was introduced on February 1, 2001 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 21, 2001. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 22, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 29, 2001 and was referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 9, 2001. The committee held work sessions on May 16, 2001, May 23, 2001 and May 30, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 10–2. On June 7, 2001 the House adopted “Recommitted to Labor” on a voice vote. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee met in executive session on December 4, 2001 to vote on its recommendation. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 2, 2002 the House voted to kill it.
