HB 718-FN (2002)

relative to renewable-energy-source electricity generation and transition service.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2001-2002
  • House committee: Science, Technology and Energy
  • Senate committee: Energy and Economic Development
  • Subject: Energy and Utilities
  • Chapter law: 268

The Story

It was introduced on February 15, 2001 and referred to the House Science, Technology and Energy committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 9, 2001. The committee held work sessions on March 15, 2001 and March 22, 2001. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 23, 2001, June 13, 2001, August 1, 2001, August 22, 2001, September 18, 2001 and October 10, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 16–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 2, 2002 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on January 2, 2002 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 12, 2002. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 3314). On April 11, 2002 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 16, 2002 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 25, 2002 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 2, 2002 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (3757) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on May 18, 2002, making it Chapter 268 of the session laws. It took effect on May 18, 2002.
