establishing a committee to study the effectiveness and fairness of county government.
- Status: Killed
- Term: 2001-2002
- House committee: Municipal and County Government
- Subject: Study Committees and Commissions
The Story
It was introduced on February 15, 2001 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 27, 2001. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 1, 2001, May 9, 2001, June 6, 2001, September 18, 2001, September 26, 2001, October 16, 2001 and October 23, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it by a vote of 13–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The bill was taken off the consent calendar on January 2, 2002. On January 2, 2002 the House voted to kill it on a roll call 193–163.
