establishing discretionary preservation easements for preserving historic agricultural structures, and changing the disposition of unused interest from the land conservation investment program.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2001-2002
- House committee: Municipal and County Government
- Senate committee: Public Affairs
- Subject: Miscellaneous
- Chapter law: 86
The Story
It was introduced on January 25, 2001 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 28, 2001. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 1, 2001 and May 22, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 11–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On June 7, 2001 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on January 31, 2002 and was referred to the Senate Public Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 2, 2002. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 3202). On April 10, 2002 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 17, 2002 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 25, 2002 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 3, 2002, making it Chapter 86 of the session laws. It took effect on July 2, 2002.
