The Story

It was introduced on December 12, 2001 and referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 16, 2002. The committee held work sessions on January 17, 2002, January 22, 2002, January 23, 2002, February 6, 2002 and February 13, 2002. The majority recommended that the House study it after the session ends, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 9–5. On February 21, 2002 the House voted to study it after the session ends on a division vote 199–124. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “REC FOR LEGIS IN 2003”, by a vote of 12 to 0.
