The Story

It was introduced on June 26, 2001 and referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 9, 2002. The committee held work sessions on January 15, 2002, January 23, 2002, January 30, 2002, February 13, 2002 and February 19, 2002. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 12–0. On March 6, 2002 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the House Ways and Means committee. On March 6, 2002 the House adopted “Susp Rules for 2nd Comm and Report deadlines” on a voice vote. The committee held a public hearing on March 13, 2002. The committee met in executive session on March 14, 2002 to vote on its recommendation. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 11–5. On March 21, 2002 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 21, 2002 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 9, 2002. The committee recommended that the Senate study it after the session ends. On April 18, 2002 the Senate voted to study it after the session ends on a voice vote.
