The Story
It was introduced on June 26, 2001 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 23, 2002. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 10–9. On February 14, 2002 the House voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 306–45. It crossed to the Senate on February 20, 2002 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 20, 2002. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 3563). On April 18, 2002 the House voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote. On April 18, 2002 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote. On April 18, 2002 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 13–10. On April 18, 2002 the Senate adopted “OT3rdg” on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 25, 2002 the House voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote.
