HB 1147 (2002)

relative to the annulment of certain criminal offenses committed under the laws of another jurisdiction.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2001-2002
  • House committee: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
  • Senate committee: Judiciary
  • Subject: Crimes, Criminal Procedure and Corrections
  • Chapter law: 269

The Story

It was introduced on June 26, 2001 and referred to the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 22, 2002. The committee held work sessions on January 29, 2002, February 12, 2002 and February 13, 2002. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 21, 2002 the House voted to pass it with changes. It crossed to the Senate on March 6, 2002 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 28, 2002. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 3533). On April 18, 2002 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 25, 2002 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 2, 2002 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (3770) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on May 18, 2002, making it Chapter 269 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 2003.
