The Story

It was introduced on June 26, 2001 and referred to the House Children and Family Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 15, 2002. On January 31, 2002 the House adopted “Special Ordered to Feb 14” on a voice vote. On February 14, 2002 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 20, 2002 and was referred to the Senate Public Institutions, Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 2, 2002. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 3208). On April 10, 2002 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 25, 2002 the House voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 2, 2002 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor.
