  • Term: 2001-2002

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2001 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 7, 2001. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0746). On April 12, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 1, 2001. The committee held a work session on May 2, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 12–1, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 24, 2001 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on June 5, 2001 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 12, 2001, making it Chapter 65 of the session laws. It took effect on June 12, 2001.
