SB 48 (2001)

relative to the rental of shared living facilities.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2001-2002
  • House committee: Judiciary
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Housing
  • Chapter law: 277

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2001 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 31, 2001. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 1118). On May 9, 2001 the Senate rejected a motion to lay it on the table. On May 9, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote 13–9 and ordered it to a third reading. On May 17, 2001 the Senate failed “Sen. D'Allesandro Moves Reconsideration” on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on May 17, 2001 and was referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 29, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 15–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On June 7, 2001 the House voted to pass it with changes. On June 12, 2001 the Senate adopted “Sen. Prescott Concur with House Amendment” on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 26, 2001 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1855) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 16, 2001, making it Chapter 277 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 2002.
