The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2001 and referred to the Senate Insurance committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 14, 2001. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0565). On March 29, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 29, 2001 and was referred to the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 9, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 12–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On June 7, 2001 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on June 13, 2001 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 28, 2001.
