relative to preliminary breath tests.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2001-2002
- House committee: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
- Senate committee: Judiciary
- Subject: Miscellaneous
- Chapter law: 44
The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2001 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 31, 2001. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 0062). On February 1, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 29, 2001 and was referred to the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 24, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 12–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 17, 2001 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on May 31, 2001 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 8, 2001, making it Chapter 44 of the session laws. It took effect on January 1, 2002.
