HB 649-FN (2001)

relative to compensation for time lost by state employees injured in the line of duty.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2001-2002
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 291

The Story

It was introduced on February 8, 2001 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 12, 2001. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes by a vote of 12–1. On March 22, 2001 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 29, 2001 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 18, 2001. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 1457). On June 7, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 1579). On June 12, 2001 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 12, 2001 the Senate adopted “Sen. Prescott Accede to Request for Committee of Conference” on a voice vote. On June 13, 2001 the House voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote. A committee of conference met on June 20, 2001 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On June 26, 2001 the Senate adopted “Conference Committee Report” on a voice vote. On June 26, 2001 the House adopted “Conf Comm Report”. The bill was enrolled on June 26, 2001 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (1884) was adopted to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 17, 2001, making it Chapter 291 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 2001.
