- Term: 1999-2000

The Story
It was introduced on April 6, 2000 and referred to the Senate Energy and Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 18, 2000. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 20, 2000 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on April 20, 2000 and was referred to the House State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 3, 2000. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it unanimously, 14–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 17, 2000 the House voted to pass it. The bill was enrolled on May 18, 2000 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (4622) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 1, 2000, making it Chapter 213 of the session laws.
