The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2000 and referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 21, 2000. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 3508). On February 17, 2000 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the House on February 24, 2000 and was referred to the House Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 4, 2000. The committee held a work session on May 3, 2000. The majority of the committee recommended that the House study it after the session ends by a vote of 22–4. On May 18, 2000 the House voted to study it after the session ends on a voice vote. The committee held work sessions on July 11, 2000, October 4, 2000, October 18, 2000 and October 24, 2000. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “NOT REC FOR LEGIS IN 2001”, by a vote of 14 to 8.
