The Story
It was introduced on January 5, 2000 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 19, 2000. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 3412). On February 17, 2000 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 24, 2000 and was referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 21, 2000. The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it unanimously, 13–0, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 4, 2000 the House voted to kill it.
