The Story

It was introduced on January 7, 1999 and referred to the House Science, Technology and Energy committee. The committee held work sessions on March 10, 1999, March 24, 1999, March 30, 1999, April 7, 1999, April 13, 1999, April 20, 1999, April 27, 1999, May 5, 1999 and May 6, 1999. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes unanimously, 16–0. On June 9, 1999 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on June 14, 1999 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Economic Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on June 22, 1999. The committee recommended that the Senate send it back to committee. On October 19, 1999 the Senate adopted “Rerferred to Committee” on a voice vote. The committee reported: Interm Study. On February 3, 2000 the Senate voted to study it after the session ends on a voice vote.
