It crossed to the Senate on February 17, 2000 and was referred to the Senate Public Institutions, Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 2, 2000. The governor signed it on June 21, 2000, making it Chapter 303 of the session laws. It took effect on August 20, 2000.
